A
little history first.
In
1934 Leo Weiler built what is known today as Memories. Built as a dance hall
during the big band era, much consideration was given to the floor itself. The
dance floor is 2400 sq. ft. of suspended hard wood maple. The fact that it is a
suspended dance floor means that there is no fatigue factor on the legs from a
hard surface. All dancers comment on the difference this makes in being able to
enjoy dancing.
Our
dance instructor, Bill Krumenauer, spent 7 years as a competition dancer, as
well as an instructor for one of the major dance studios. Bill has been teaching
ballroom dancing 18 years and is a certified instructor by the National Dance
Council of America. Teaching more than just the dance steps, Bill emphasizes the
social aspects of ballroom dancing. This is a great activity for any couple, not
to mention the opportunity to meet other people.
Our
dance classes are six-week sessions, 45-minute classes, at a cost of $80.00
per couple. Times are: beginners @
7:00pm, intermediate @ 7:45pm, and advance @ 8:30pm. We also have a
little celebration dance, week 7, to allow you an opportunity to “Practice
what you’ve learned”.
